Classes

At St. Dunstan’s School each teacher is free to design their curriculum to best suit the dynamics of their class while still encouraging growth in all areas of development.  Incorporated into their planning is the “Handwriting Without Tears” curriculum where children play, build, sing, color and learn while developing important skills for handwriting (beginning at age 3).  Also incorporated into our Pre-K class is the Houghton Mifflin comprehensive “hands-on, minds-on” curriculum where the combination of instruction, group activities, and centers help children develop socially, emotionally, and academically.  This program is based on sound research and is aligned with key critical learning goals, including those defined by Early Reading First, Head Start, the National Association for the Education of Young Children, the International Reading Association, the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics, and several state frameworks.
