February Newsletter
Dear Parents,
February is a short and busy month for all of us here at St. Dunstan’s Preschool. We will be focusing on our community, our friendships, and different ways to show how we love and care for one another.
As you know our weather has been pretty unpredictable lately. Be sure to dress your child accordingly. We recommend layers to add or remove throughout the day depending on the temperature. And last but not least please be sure to dress your child in their St. Dunstan’s school uniform (either a shirt or a sweatshirt or both). It has been brought to our attention that some children have not been wearing a uniform at all. If you are out of uniforms and need to order more we have order forms in the clear plastic hanging file holder by the front door of the school. We have extended the uniform order time frame until Friday, February 3rd. (Please put the completed uniform orders and money in the tuition box in the school’s office.)
The school Valentine’s Day classroom celebrations will take place on Tuesday, February 14th in your child’s classroom. Each teacher has a schedule of the festivities for this day and parent volunteers have already signed up at the beginning of the school year to help plan and host the activities for the parties. (If you do not remember if you signed up to help please speak with your child’s teacher). Each classroom party will have a festive snack, art project and lunch to enjoy on this special day.
Parent/Teacher conferences are scheduled for Friday, February 17th and will take place the whole day. School will be closed on this day for children and unfortunately we will not be offering child care during the conferences. Something that has worked well for parents in the past is to arrange your conference time next to another parent’s conference time and watch each other’s children while the other is in their conference. Each conference time has an allotted spot of thirty minutes. There will be a conference sign-up sheet in your child’s classroom for you to pick a time that works well for your schedule. Please talk with your child’s teacher if this date does not work for you.
The week following the conferences we have our February break (February 20th-24th). School will be closed this week; however, we will have a “mini camp” for those parents who need it. The camp will be Tuesday through Friday 8:30am-3:30pm; no camp on Monday because we will be observing the Presidents Day holiday. Each day of camp we will be using a different children’s book to do art projects, cooking projects, music activities, acting out plays, songs, fingerplays, and other stories. The sign-ups for the break will be in Miss Melyssa’s classroom on Monday, February 6th please see her to sign up. Space is limited.
When we return from the February break we will be having our 100th DAY OF SCHOOL AND PAJAMA DAY!!! This day falls on Tuesday, February 28th; each classroom will plan their own 100th day activities and everyone (including the teachers) can wear their pajamas to school. (Please bring regular clothes for your child to change into if they decide to at some point throughout the day.)
The school year is now more than half way over and the next four months have many activities and events in store for everyone at St. Dunstan’s Preschool. Please be sure to continue to read each month’s school newsletter and do not hesitate to ask your child’s teacher questions if you need to.
